Breast Stupa Cookery by Pinaree Sanpitak

Breast Stupa Cookery is an ongoing collaborative project by Pinaree Sanpitak that invites chefs to interpret her signature breast and stupa forms through shared dining experiences. Using bespoke vessels and tableware, each iteration becomes a dialogue between artist and chef, exploring themes of birth, growth, nourishment and connection. First conceived in 2005, Breast Stupa Cookery has since been presented in more than 45 iterations worldwide. For Chapters Kyoto, her interpretation is in collaboration with Chef Takuji Takahashi of Kinobu.

Pinaree Sanpitak is one of Asia's leading contemporary artists, whose practice explores the body, motherhood and womanhood through an evolving visual language of breasts, vessels and stupas. Since the landmark Breast Works series in the 1990s, these forms have become the defining symbols of her practice, expressed across painting, sculpture, installation, printmaking and performance.
