Hatis Noit

Hatis Noit is a Japanese vocal performer whose self-taught practice draws from Gagaku, Gregorian and Bulgarian chant, opera, avant-garde and contemporary vocal traditions. Originally from Shiretoko, Hokkaido, and now based in London, she discovered the transformative power of the human voice after hearing a female Buddhist monk chant during a journey to Nepal at sixteen. Her immersive performances explore voice as a bridge to the past, memory and the subconscious.

The name Hatis Noit is taken from Japanese folklore, meaning the stem of the lotus flower. The lotus represents the living world, while its root represents the spirit world, with Hatis Noit connecting the two.
