General

An intimate gathering of Mind, Nature, and Sound, shared through nourishment, art, and culture. Guided by Myō, a Zen Buddhist philosophy that reveals the extraordinary within the ordinary, Chapters extends the Wonderfruit ethos beyond Thailand through Japanese culture, art, craftsmanship, and contemplative practices. In partnership with Toho Leo, Chapters Kyoto marks our first international gathering in Kyoto, Japan.

Unlike the annual Wonderfruit gathering in December at Siam Country Club, Chapters Kyoto is an intimate gathering of around 100 guests, unfolding across Kyoto's diverse landscapes, cultural spaces, and creative studios rather than in a single location. Each day offers a carefully curated schedule designed to invite deeper engagement with individual practices, people, and places. While intimate in scale, Chapters remains rooted in Wonderfruit's core exploration of Mind, Nature and Sound.

Chapters Kyoto will take place from 22–25 October 2026 across 20+ venues throughout Kyoto, Japan.

Our capacity is approximately 100 guests.

The experience will be conducted in Japanese and English, with translation support available throughout the journey.

We recommend attending all four days to fully experience Chapters Kyoto. However, attendance for the entire duration is not mandatory. Your ticket includes access to the complete experience, and the ticket price cannot be adjusted or refunded for any experiences or days you choose not to attend.

Yes. A detailed schedule will be shared with confirmed ticket holders via email before the event.

The full program will be announced in August 2026.

Travel

No. Transportation between the airport, railway station and your accommodation is not included in the Chapters Kyoto ticket. Guests are responsible for arranging and covering the cost of their own airport or railway-station transfers.

The Closing Ceremony concludes on the evening of 25 October 2026.

We recommend arranging your onward journey or departing flight for 26 October 2026 or later, allowing time for a relaxed and unhurried departure.

Guests should plan to arrive at their accommodation in Kyoto on 22 October 2026 by 2 PM.

Arriving by this time will give you time to check in and settle into your hotel before The Opening Ceremony begins in the early evening.

Shuttles to The Opening Ceremony will depart from Dusit Thani Kyoto, the primary meeting point for Chapters Kyoto shuttle services.

For guests already staying in Tokyo, the Tokaido Shinkansen is generally the most convenient option. It connects central Tokyo directly with Kyoto Station and avoids airport check-in, security and airport-to-city transfers.

From central Tokyo

Board the Shinkansen at either:

  • Tokyo Station

  • Shinagawa Station

The fastest Nozomi services travel from Tokyo to Kyoto in approximately two hours.

Advance reservations: SmartEX—Official Shinkansen Online Reservation

SmartEX allows international guests to purchase tickets and reserve seats online before arriving in Japan. During designated peak travel periods, Nozomi services operate with reserved seating only, so advance booking is strongly recommended.

Kansai International Airport (KIX)

KIX is the primary international gateway for Kyoto and the recommended airport for guests arriving from outside Japan. Travel time from KIX to central Kyoto is generally 75–120 minutes, depending on your chosen mode of transportation and traffic conditions.

Osaka International Airport, Itami (ITM)

Itami Airport primarily serves domestic flights within Japan and is closer to Kyoto than KIX. A direct limousine bus connects the airport with Kyoto Station in approximately 50 minutes.
