KUROBYOSHI

KUROBYOSHI is a duo from the Kansai region built around two instruments: the taiko drum and the shinobue bamboo flute. Founded in 2004, Norimaru and Nami have spent two decades performing at sacred shrines and contemporary stages across Japan, developing a sound they describe as the celebratory pulse that shakes heaven and earth. Their practice extends beyond performance: Norimaru crafts the worn drumheads of spent taiko into leather goods by hand, honouring the full life of the material.
